Main People of GOAnime

I think it's time for me to finally say this to the world. I know the execs of GOAnime know this already, so here goes....
After the club showed a series called "げんしけん (Genshiken)" I realized that the club in the anime is very similar to the group that runs GOAnime. To start off, both clubs (in anime and reality) love playing video games and watching anime. We even sometimes talk about it too, not right after the show we watch ends but usually 15 minutes or so after the club showings end. We're trying to get a doujinshi out and we're not talking doing anything adult oriented.....just yet. Although that topic did cross our minds but decided not to for the moment. I'm personally trying to get people into cosplaying (dressing up as characters in anime, video games, etc) but I'm not having too much luck with that right now.

Funny thing is, some of our personalities and facial features are almost the same as the characters in the anime. It's kinda weird and cool at the same time when you think about it.

To end off, here is a picture of one of the characters in the anime/manga
Madarame Looks familiar to anyone?

My Take on Espionage.....involving video games and movies

A really interesting conversation happened just now. It involved us talking about spies and the topic eventually reached video games and movies. Once we got there, the topic of "Solid Snake vs Bond : Who's the better spy?" came up. Our decision was pretty much unanimous....it was Solid Snake. The reasoning behind this was that Snake was pretty much invisible to everyone except for the major villians. Bond just so happens to end up meeting random enemies and kills them off. Somehow no one notices a corpse in a middle of a base and theres no sign of an attempt to actually hide it as well. Makes you wonder what kind of spy school Bond graduated from eh?

Classes Having Effect on my Gaming

I'm currently taking a course about narrative and it was time to write a game analysis paper. While I was writing the paper up, I looked at my collection and a question came up in my head. Why do I have so many friggin' RPGs (role-playing games) in my collection? That answer would have to be that.....I'm a sucker for good stories. Of course, not all my RPGs have exceptional stories but they are still good stories nonetheless. On top of that, being in that narrative class has made a pretty lasting impression on how I look at stories and especially how I look at video games.

Oh yeah, in my video game collection, RPGs consist of about 80% of it. =P

GAHHH!!!!

Yeah.....I've got nothing. It's weird but I sometimes get these brain farts when I'm trying to think of something to type. Problem is.....IT'S BEEN HAPPENING THE WHOLE WEEK! Hopefully something better will come out tomorrow. For now, I'm going to have to restart my brain....

An Interesting Equation...

Just last week, when my friends and I were working on a project for a class, we got to talking about what a lot of gamers today are looking at video games. We all agreed that gamers are thinking a lot about the graphics and overlooking gameplay and storyline. The interesting thing about this talk was when I got home and went on messenger. As I was talking to my other friends about random things, I noticed that one of them had something that caught my attention quite fast. The thing I noticed was an “equation” on what most of my friends would agree on in terms of defining video game quality. The “equation” when like this:

(Storyline >= Gameplay) > Graphics

This brings up something that I’ve noticed in quite a number of games out there. Many companies are using graphics as their major thing when they want to bring out games. I’ve had talks with people when I bring up new games and I usually hear things concerning graphics as their first question. I’ve even had friends that refuse to play a game (even though a majority of us loved the story and the gameplay) just because the game’s graphics were poor. I know it’s up to the individual to decide what they think is a good game and what is bad. Personally, since I’ve played video games almost my entire life, I think its crucial that others understand that gaming has change over the years but I strongly emphasize to newer and even casual gamers that the above equation is something we want to experience when we play.
